Hello everyone! This month we are setting out to refresh the side of our house with flowers and plants for spring/summer and also adding an in-ground and above-ground garden bed. We will be using Vigoro products exclusively sold at The Home Depot.

Whether it was mulch, soils, garden beds, or live goods, Vigoro had everything we needed for this project! Vigoro was our total outdoor project solution.

IN-GROUND GARDEN BED

There is a corner of our house that has always been difficult to grow grass and my wife recently had an idea to make this area a little more pleasant to look at!

I first started by digging out all grass and weeds so that we could start on a bare dirt foundation. It was important to treat and remove all grass and weeds to discourage any growth under the weed barrier.

After we raked the area so that it was even and smooth, we laid out the Vigoro Landscape Fabric and secured it to the ground using landscape staples

I then dug a few holes and planted outdoor plants that will be perfect for this area of our home. I used All Purpose In-Ground Garden Soil in the ground to encourage healthy growth.

After our plants were in the ground, we proceeded to add brown rubber landscape edging that did not require any digging! We simply staked it to the ground with the included stakes and it was ready to go. This was my first time using Vigoro Premium Rubber Mulch and we loved the way it looked and felt! I am thankful it will still look brand new many months from now!

RAISED GARDEN BED

Having planters around is such a simple way to bring some beauty and color to any space. We have added a few on our front porch as well as the planters on our patio. If you are wanting to add a planter this Spring, Vigoro also sells an Elevated Resin Patio Garden Bed, a Wooden Barrel Planter, and a Stand-Up Steel Raised Garden Planter that would be perfect for any area.

For this project, we chose the new Vigoro Elevated Cedar Garden Bed. My daughter and I had a great time putting together and you can check my Instagram for a video of how simple it was to put together. This is a great project to do with kids!

After assembly, we laid out the Perforated Raised Garden Bed Fabric and just poured in the All-Purpose Potting Mix. We then mixed in the Vigoro Organic Perlite Soil Amendment and a scoop of the Vigoro All-Purpose Plant Food and then planted a few vegetables.

If you are a beginner like me or if you do not have the space for a large garden, then I hope this encourages you by seeing how easy it can be to freshen up an outdoor space and create a designated place to plant vegetables and plants.

By the way, you can find our other indoor and outdoor Vigoro projects linked in each picture below!

What do you think of this before and after? We are thrilled that everything came together so easily and very happy with the various Vigoro products we selected. We were able to spend just a few hours outside and now feel like we are in full swing for this Spring season!
